Award of Excellence: 2022 BEA On Location Creative Arts Competition
Won an “Award of Excellence” in the “Audio” category for my podcast, “Hunger in Hamden: Episode 4 – Food Pantries Step Up To Help During the Pandemic” at the Broadcast Education Association’s On-Location Creative Arts Competition, an international competition of faculty creative work.
2022 Leibner Cooper Grant for Creative Productions on the History of Media
Awarded a grant from the Leibner Cooper Family Foundation and the BEA to help produce season 2 of the “Reporting on 9/11” podcast
Award of Excellence: 2020 BEA Festival of Media Arts
Won an “Award of Excellence in the “Radio Documentary” category for my podcast, “Hunger in Hamden: Episode 2 – The Keefe Center and Dinner for a Dollar” at the Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Media Arts, an international competition of faculty creative work.
Best General Column (3rd Place): 2017-2018 Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists Excellence in Journalism Contest
My opinion piece, Niko, Chris, Orson, Diana, yikes! Please don’t name winter storms! won third place in the “General Column” category at the Connecticut SPJ’s Excellence in Journalism Contest
Named a “Top Teacher of Journalism” by Crain’s Newspro Magazine

Produced the live breaking news coverage of a “Metro Train Collision” that won a national Edward R. Murrow award for “Best Breaking News” coverage.

Won a regional Emmy Award for “Best Newscast” for producing the 5pm newscast, “River Road Water Main Break” at WJLA
